Seriously? No etymology section?
[edit]It is said the name is Ancient Greek "pyramis" but not that the word is a compound of "pyr" (as in "pyromaniac", meaning fire) and "amis" (same meaning as "amidst").
The word for it in Arabic is "haram" (هرم) and might be connected to the name of "Hermes" as the god's name/function comes from both "Herm", which explicitly means "Stack of stones" and the EGYPTIAN god Thoth. Thoth is seen as an architect god and is often credited with "building" the pyramids.
I get that this is seen as original research but couldn't we at least say it's of unknown ultimate origin, and might be Pre-Greek ?— Preceding unsigned comment added by ConfusedEnoch (talk • contribs)
- You need a source for that. All we do is cite, summarize, and paraphrase professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources, without commentary nor addition. Ian.thomson (talk) 22:12, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

[edit]We should finally accept new scientific findiongs, which show that the pyramids are made of concrete: see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMAtkjy_YK4 2A07:3D01:102:A900:8D63:B110:E3C1:6203 (talk) 19:31, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- And it argues nonsense such as Egyptians travelled all over the world. Fringe nonsense. Doug Weller talk 12:38, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
